My wife backed me up over my decision to quit my job.

2.ask around : preguntar por ahí / ask many people the same question
I asked around but nobody has seen my wallet.

3.break into: entrar a la fuerza
The firemen had to break into the room to rescue the children

4.break up: end a relationship
My boyfriend and i broke up.

5.call something off:
Mary called the wedding off.

ask out: to invite someone to come with you to a place such as the cinema to a restaurant.

Examples: I am gong to ask her out to somewhere.


beat up: (golpear)

Examples: A man beat up his wife out of jealous and was sent to jail. Edwin beat up his dog with a stick. She beat up him for being rude.


bring up: (criar-educar-sacar el tema de) 

Examples: I was brought up in Barranquilla. I don´t like you to bring that topic up.


bump into: (encontrarse con alguien-chocarse con)

Examples: Guess who I bumped into in the bus this morning. I bumped into a pole close to work.


butt in: (interrumpir-quitar la palabra)

Examples: Stop butting in! It is her turn to talk. How can i explain if you keep butting in.


call off: (suspender/cancelar) shut off: ( cortar-desconectar-cerrar el grifo-suspender)

Examples: The class was called off at the last minute.Water was called off this morning.


care about: (preocuparse por-importarle a alguien)

Examples: He was cared about you.She doesn´t care about anybody else.


carry on: (seguir -seguir en la misma tónica)

Examples: You can´t carry on like that. Carry on doing something. Let´s carry on this discussion at some other time.


catch up: (ponerse al día)

Examples: I missed two classes so now i need to catch up. You have to catch up in your homework. If you don´t go slow i can´t catch up with you.
